Postal strike from May 2

Postal employees have a threatened to go on a nationwide indefinite strike from May 2 to press their demands for revision of payscales of certain categories and grant of status and pension to the extra department employees.

The strike call has been given by joint council of action of National Federation of Postal Employees, Federation of National Postal Organisations and Bharatiya Postal Employees' Federation.

Their charter of demands includes implementation of the positive recommendations of Justice Talwar Committee for the employees, with particular reference to grant of status and pension, and implementation of the agreed proposals signed on December 18, 1998 regarding upgradation of payscales of certain categories and on the issue of casual labourers.
