Finance Bill to be tabled on May 3, 4

Email this report to a friend

The government will move the Finance Bill for consideration and passage on May 3 and 4. Discussions on demand for grants of ministries will begin from April 25 with the Communications Ministry.

This was decided at the Business Advisory Committee, or BAC, meeting convened by Lok Sabha, or Lower House, Speaker G M C Balayogi today.

Following assurances from the Congress and other opposition parties about safe passage, the government has rescheduled its agenda for approval of the Finance Bill.

Accordingly, it was decided at the BAC that important issues like price rise, drought, and Kargil will be taken up during the session.

The Speaker has fixed April 27 for discussing the price rise issue and April 24 for focussing government's attention to the prevailing drought condition in several parts of the country.
