Deldot Systems Limited, a leading Bangalore-based technology and business solution integration company, has tied up with the Toronto-based Hummingbird Limited to introduce in the Indian market the latter's enterprise information portal, or EIP, knowledge management, and document management solutions.

The $ 240-million firm, world leader in enterprise software solutions, has also appointed Deldot Systems as the first South Asian authorised training partner for its entire suite of document and knowledge management products.

The partnership will not only enable the Rs 320-million Deldot Systems to market the flagship EIP product of Hummingbird, but also customise it to address the needs of India's leading corporates.

Chandra Keerthi, Deldot's chief executive officer, said that the importance of knowledge-based real time operations is fast catching up with Indian enterprises. Even the banking, finance, manufacturing, retail, and legal markets are looking to gain advantage in a competitive global arena.

"In an increasingly knowledge-dominated economy, driven by Internet and competition, Hummingbird's document and knowledge management education team has relevant expertise, and know-how to serve any organisation's learning methods. Deldot will deliver the products riding on the expertise of its strategic partner."

According to Hummingbird's general manager for Asia and Greater China region general manager Bala, the company's knowledge management solutions are used by enterprises worldwide to increase their returns.

"The software solutions provide access, analysis, and control to gain new value from the information they have. The software is valued for its adherence to open standards, its integration with Microsoft Windows NT, its scalability, and low-cost ownership."

EIP, the flagship product is a customised web-based workspace that provides a single-point access to business critical information and resources, including structured enterprise data.

"The EIP works by connecting users to content and enables them to quickly process, filter, and act upon information from any enterprise source," Bala stated.

Other products in the category include Fulcrum KnowedgeServer, Knowledge Manager, Workstation, CyberDocs, and PowerDocs. The EIP leverages the company's core strength in network connectivity, data integration and reporting.
