India approves foreign direct investment proposals worth Rs 25 billion

The Commerce and Industry Ministry has approved 57 cases of foreign direct investment, or FDI, of about Rs 25.05 billion.

The proposals cover various sectors like chemicals and auxiliaries, pharmaceuticals, air-cargo handling, exports, and trading.

They also entail sectors like banking, leasing, hire purchase, risk management, software development, computer hardware/software, financial advisory and consultancy services, nutritional food products, radio, textile machinery, and Internet service / website / portal.

Call centers, lube additives, power generation, solvent extraction, telephone services, jelly-filled cables, engineering equipment, cement and cosmetics have also been covered.
