Telco denies large car design alteration

Email this report to a friend

There is no move by the Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company to change the design and the specifications of its proposed large car (refered to as the Midi) so as to move away from the premium segment of the market.

In a statement, the company said that the car was never targeted in the Rs 500,000 to Rs 600,000 price range. While the designs have been practically frozen, the company is currently in the phase of trying out the early prototypes.

Telco is confident of being able to deliver on the expectations of the discerning car customer at the premium end, as has been proved by the positive response that the Tata Safari has received since its launch last year, the statement added.
