Polymer event seeks to bring students, experts together

Academics, students, researchers and technocrats of polymer industry will get a rare opportunity to interact with the likes of Mukesh Ambani and other leading lights of the industry at PVC 2000 in Bombay on February 5, the first ever global conference on redifining PVC technology. Representatives of the famed Vinyl Institute of the USA will also participate.

Being organised by the Indian arm of the US-based Society of Plastics Engineers, the conference seeks to drive home the point that in the next century, PVC will replace conventional materials including metals and wood in a big way.

"Cars, buildings, doors, windows, consumer products, medical and life saving equipment, etc, already have a substantial PVC component. Moreover, because of its utility in the distribution of power and water for agriculture, PVC is being termed as the infrastructure polymer," said K G Chandran, managing director of K K Plastics and conference chairman.
