Bull hammering leads to sharp fall in share prices; Nifty down 22 points to 953.85

Share prices fell sharply on bull hammering and the absence of buying interst by institutional investors on the National Stock Exchange today.

Mirroring the depressed sentiment, the S&P CNX Nifty declined by 22.45 points to 953.85 points from 976.30 points of the previous day.

The CNX Nnifty Junior crashed by 56.95 points to 1717.15 points from 1774.10 points of the previous day while the S&P CNX Defty slid by 18.20 points to 779.30 points from 797.50 points.

The S&P CNX 500 moved down by 17.40 points to 665.80 points and CNX Midcap 200 index eased by 18.18 points to 599.75 points from 617.93 points.

The total turnover, involving 89.03 million shares in 278,041 trades, was Rs 20.19 billion. The debentures traded were valued was Rs 5.62 million.

Today, 294 securities advanced, 790 declined, 87 remained unchanged while 125 securities hit their price bands today.
