Email this report to a friend

The Archeological Survey of India has expressed its willingness to support corporates and institutions who would like to revitalise the environs of Kanheri caves and Bassein Fort in Bombay.

This was stated by ASI director-general Ajai Shankar at a meeting with the Confederation of Indian Industry in Bombay early this week. The meeting was unanimous that corporates and institutions should come forward and help the ASI in conserving heritage structures.

He also informed that the ASI has undertaken the responsibility of restoring Shaniwarwada in Pune.

Union Culture Secretary Dr R V V Ayyer said that a National Culture Fund has been set up, which will help in restoration of old heritage structures. NCF is helping the ASI in the Kanheri caves and Bassein Fort projects.
