Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna has turned down environmentalists' demand to shift the Cogentrix-promoted power project from Nandikur near Mangalore.

Speaking after inaugurating the Kadambotsav at Banavasi in Sirsi, he said that shifting of the project could not be considered "at this stage". "There is no opposition to the Cogentrix project from my Cabinet," he added.

Asked whether the state government has already decided in favour of the project, he said, "The Cabinet will consider the pros and cons before taking any decision."
