Sony, HDFC Bank tie up to hardsell car audio systems

Sony India Limited has joined hands with HDFC Bank to work out an innovative car finance package under which a Sony car audio system would be installed in a new car for no additional upfront cash outflow.

The offer is limited to three Sony car audio models -- SRS 1807, SRS 1807-D and SR 4807 -- company officials said.

Besides, the package is also limited to four car models -- to wit, Maruti 800 EX, Zen LX, Santro DX and Matiz SS, the officials added.

Under the scheme, HDFC Bank car loan has been increased by upto five per cent of the car price, depending on the car model, to cover the cost of the stereo. The scheme is currently available through select outlets in Bangalore, Madras, Calcutta and Bombay.

This is in line with Sony India's strategy to increase not only its marketshare but also seed the total car audio market in the country. Currently, Sony is a market leader amongst branded car audios with an estimated marketshare of 80 per cent.

''We feel that this kind of an exercise will further strengthen our brand image and product roots in the country, thereby giving us an invisible advantage over other car audio makers,'' Hiromi Matsumoto, managing director of Sony India said.
