Naidu rejects demand for reservations in B-school project

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today rejected the Opposition demand for seeking reservation for students from the state in the proposed Rs 3.4 billion Indian School of Business being set up by the captains of industry.

Naidu said only merit should be the criterion in world class institutions and added ''nobody will come'' if reservations were sought. ''That's the reason why they did not go to Bombay''.

He said the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are ''frustrated'', that is why they are politicising the memorandum of understanding signed by the government with leading industrialists for the proposed school.

On the Congress demand for making public the MoU details, Naidu said he was ready to do so. He said 250 acres of land was provided at the cost of Rs 25,000 per acre and the registration fee was exempted. ''The concessions are not important. The project is important,'' he added.
