NGOs converging on Bombay to seek corporate support

The Concern India Foundation, the Association of Youth for a Better India and the International Resources for Fairer Trade are together organising a three-day mela (fair) called Ongoing '98 beginning November 20 for various non-government organisations from all over India.

The event is said to be ''a link in the chain of development'' to provide NGOs an opportunity to present themselves and create awareness about their work, display/sell their products -- handicraft items, bedcovers, leather goods, gifts, etc -- to raise funds, besides enabling corporates to extend support for NGO activities.

According to a CIF statement, more than 90 NGOs from Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gujarat and other places are participating this year.

More information is available at the CIF in Bombay on telephones 2855487, 2029708 and 2043625 (fax).
