Thambidurai to order probe against Chidambaram

Send this story to a friend

Union Law Minster M Thambidurai has said his ministry would investigate as to how former finance minister P Chidambaram had allowed Reliance to re-invest a huge amount of Rs 20 billion without any inspection.

Talking to the media in Madras on Sunday, Thambidurai, who is also in charge of company affairs, said it was surprising that Chidambaram had allowed Reliance to re-invest without following the inspection procedures. "My department would find out the truth," he added.

He said there were many instances of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Tamil Maanila Congress leaders accumulating wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income and his department would investigate them.

Asked whether he would release the list of such people, he said he would do so at the appropriate time.
