The NSE said that trading on the NSE started at 0930 hours but some software problems were noticed and trading continued only up to 1110 hours and was thereafter.

It is expected that the problem would be resolved by end of the day and that trading will be resumed on March 24.

During the period up to 1100 hours, market saw 50,500 shares traded and a turnover of Rs 4.18 billion, less by Rs 10 billion compared to its daily average turnover. The Nifty closed higher by about 15 points at 1124.15 points compared to Friday's close.

The NSE said that a new version of the near trading software was released on March 21. The new version incorporates several features suggested by members from time to time. However, a large number of members were not able to download the new version on Saturday last nor today.
