NSE-50 Index

Nifty slides 13.45 points

Pivotal prices declined gradually on the National Stock Exchange on the last day of current settlement cycles.

The NSE-50 index opened at 1099.35 points, touched the day's high of 1102.85 points and a low of 1082.70 points before closing at 1086.05 points, suffering a total loss of 13.45 points, compared to the previous close of 1099.50 points. The dollar NSE-50 index finished at 952.80 points, losing 11.75 points over the last working day's close of 964.55 points.

The Midcap Index settled down at 1232.85 points as compared to yesterday's close of 1252.10 points, decreasing 19.25 points. The total turnover on the exchange was Rs 15.59 billion, involving 66.32 million shares in 199,222 trades and debentures at a traded value of Rs 23.16 million.

Hectic trading was witnessed at ITC (Rs 4.9 billion), Reliance (Rs 2.28 billion), Sbin (Rs 1.71 billion), Tata Tea (Rs 1.03 billion), Hind Lever (Rs 551.3 million), Tisco (Rs 479.3 million), Bajaj Auto (Rs 435.7 million), Castrol (Rs 426.7 million), ACC (Rs 414.6 million), Telco (Rs 289.9 million), LML (Rs 226.5 million), Sterlite (Rs 220.9 million), BSES (Rs 164.5 million), Corporation Bank (Rs 154.2 million), MTNL (Rs 146 million), L and T (Rs 137.3 million), ICICI (Rs 128.6 million), BHEL (Rs 104.2 million), Smithkl Pha (Rs 98 million), Dep LS-ML P and G (Rs 65.2 million), Reck Colman (Rs 65.2 million), Ponds (Rs 58 million), Ponds (Rs 47.1 million), Thermax (Rs 45.6 million) and BPL (Rs 43.9 million).

Major gainers were ICICI, Indo Gulf Fert, Ranbaxy, Tisco and Sbin, and losers were M and M, Arvind Mills, Ashok Leyland, BSES and Ind Rayon.
