Tata Airlines venture not shelved, clarifies minister

Union Civil Aviation Minister Anantha Kumar today said the issue of the proposed Tata Airlines has not been shelved and was under consideration of the Centre.

Addressing a media conference in Ahmedabad, Kumar said the matter has not been closed as yet.

He said the Government of India had adopted the current open skies policy in 1993 and any company that followed its guidelines was welcome.

He said the government had surveyed 126 domestic air services all over the world and found that hardly any country provided the facilities which were demanded in India.
