Kumaramangalam is scuttling Cogentrix, alleges Patel

Karnataka Chief Minister J H Patel charged Union Energy Minister P R Kumaramangalam with trying to scuttle the 1000 MW Cogentrix power project near Mangalore.

He said there was no problem in giving counter guarantee by the Union finance ministry for the project.

But Kumaramangalam was saying that till the case related to the project was disposed of by the Supreme Court, it could not be approved. The main intention was to scuttle the project, he charged.

Replying to questions, he said if there was any specific instance of corruption in the project let it be proved and the guilty be punished. There was no reason in unnecessarily delaying the project, he felt.
