Gujarat okays Rs 47 billion water supply project

The Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board has approved the Rs 47 billion project of the Water Supply Grid Corporation for the supply of water through a pipeline in Saurashtra and Kutch.

According to official sources, the meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and Industries Minister Suresh Mehta, Narmada Development Minister Jaynarayan Vyas and other senior officials.

The meeting also discussed the feasibility report of the proposal to develop 'Dholavira', the ancient city of Harappan culture. And an international tourist spot as well as linking Gujarat with a gas grid.

Vyas said out of Rs 47 billion, the government would invest Rs 17 billion while the rest of the amount would be generated from the market.
