NSE-50 Index

Nifty gains 12.95 points

Pivotal prices gained moderately on renewed buying support from foreign institutional investors and general investors on the National Stock Exchange today.

The NSE-50 index "Nifty" opened at 1197.05 points, touched day's high of 1211.80 points, low of 1189.75 points, and closed at 1210.00 points, showing a gain of 12.95 points as against the previous close of 1197.05 points.

The Dollar NSE-50 index finished at 1056.45 points over the last trading day's close of 1045.10 points gaining 11.35 points. The Midcap index settled down at 1641.20 points as compared to yesterday's close of 1616.70 points increasing by 24.50 points.

The total turnover on the exchange was Rs 15.6 billion involving 72.2 million shares in 238,607 trades. About 275 securities have hit their prices bands.

Top gainers were Thermax, Hindalco, ICICI, IDBI, BPCL and losers were Oriental Bank, Hind Petro, MRPL, shok Ley and Ind Hotels.

ITC registered the highest volume of Rs 4.7 billion, RIL Rs 1.3 billion, Castrol Rs 1.3 billion, SBI-N Rs 913.1 million, Tata Tea Rs 618.6 million, ACC Rs 464.5 million, ICICI Rs 421.5 million, Infosys Tech Rs 405 million, Telco Rs 362.5 million, Hind Lever Rs 359.4 million, Tisco Rs 215 million, Pentsfware Rs 171 million, BHEL Rs 166.7 million, Hindalco Rs 155.5 million, BPL Rs 153.1 million, BSES Rs 147.5 million, IDBI Rs 146.9 million, Sterlite Rs 132.6 million, MTNL Rs 124.8 million, BFL Softwar Rs 112.7 million, Glaxo Rs 107.8 million, Silverline Rs 92.8 million, Sqrdsfware Rs 92.5 million, Wartdiesel Rs 92 million and LML Rs 90..1 million.
