Nifty up 13.65 points

Market sentiments continued to be positive as pivotal prices further on good buying support from financial institutions on the National Stock Exchange in Bombay today.

The Nifty NSE-50 index opened nearly steady at 1173.55 points, touched the day's high of 1191.55 points, low of 1173.55 points, and closed at 1187.10 points, showing a net gain of 13.65 points over the previous close of 1173.45 points.

The Defty Dollar NSE-50 index finished at 1039.80 points over the last working day's close of 1029.40 points gaining 10.40 points. The Midcap index closed at 1145.25 points as compared to previous close of 1409.15 points increasing 36.10 points.

The total turnover on the exchange was Rs 1700.79 million involving 68.8 million shares in 227,293 trades. About 168 securities have hit their price bands.

Hectic trading was witnessed at ITC Rs 3.2 billion, Castrol Rs 1.6 billion, Hind Lever Rs 1.1 billion, TISCO Rs 1.1 billion, Reliance Rs 1 Billion, TELCO Rs 886.5 million, ACC Rs 835.2 million, SBI-N Rs 799.1 million, Tata Tea Rs 695.7 million, BHEL Rs 444 million, Bajaj Auto Rs 365.9 million, BSES Rs 303.1 million, L and T Rs 289.7 million, LML Rs 240.6 million, ICICI Rs 233.5 million, MTNL Rs 209.6 million, Pentsfware Rs 168.3 million, Infosys Tech Rs 155.8 million, Bank of Baroda Rs 149.2 million, Sterlite Rs 115.7 million, HDFC Rs 114.8 million, Glaxo Rs 106.1 million, IPCL Rs 105.4 million, Colgate Rs 101.6 million and Guj Ambuja Cement Rs 81.5 million.
