Mumbai, September 20, 1999
Rediff Weather channel gives forecast for 46 cities across India.
In a tie-up with Weather News Inc., a US based weather forecasting service, rediff.com has launched its new Weather channel which is the only channel to provide a five-day weather forecast across 46 cities in India and across 16 other countries, including the USA, UK, Singapore and the UAE.
Travellers can now check the weather conditions at their destinations to enable them to carry the appropriate attire. With the addition of this channel, net users can now log onto www.rediff.com and find out what the weather will be like when their favourite cricket matches are being played, while planning weddings or simply when they want to go out on a picnic.
A typical city forecast provides at a glance details on the general weather conditions expected over the next five days along with maximum and minimum temperatures recorded both in Centigrade and Fahrenheit measures. The weather details are presented in a comprehensive manner with simple graphics. The Weather channel also allows users the option of search by 'city'.
The channel also has a section called 'Cool Weather Stuff' that gives ideal weather getaways for the season, luring people to exotic locations and weather e-cards that users can customize to their preference. For the culture buffs, the site also provides interesting reading on Indian Weather Gods and the mythology and folklore surrounding the elements of the various seasons.
