Plan your career moves at Rediff.com
Mumbai, August 18, 1999
Rediff.com's Education Channel was relaunched on 15th August '99 to include a wide range of career focussed services. Accessible at www.rediff.com/education, graduates can now check out a comprehensive online career resource guide, get vocational guidance and counselling, enroll online for courses, research scholarship opportunities or simply take part in a discussion with fellow students.
The setting up of a 'Career Resource Centre' puts the spotlight on the main concerns of graduates. Spearheaded by Usha Albuquerque, author of the Penguin Career Guide volumes, the centre provides information on academic requirements, aptitude checks, job prospects, information on salaries and career growth options across all major industries. Information here is continually updated to encompass ever-changing patterns of the work place. Students can also visit the 'Achiever Track' to check out interviews with professionals who are spokespersons in their respective fields.
Rediff.com has included in their online self-evaluator test section papers for Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Common Entrance Test (CET) and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) in addition to the existing board papers for the Indian Certificate School Examination (ICSE). Rediff has plans to post all board examination results on its site.
Rediff has forged an exclusive tie-up with Aptech Computer Education, to become the first Indian portal offering popular online courses. Rediff users get to set their own pace while learning and as an added incentive for pursuing the courses online, special discounts are offered to them. Expected soon is the online registration for SNDT courses.
Additionally, the Education Channel now provides a counselling facility by Dr. Sumitra Sawant. An expert in the field, she personally handles each query posted by Rediff users and offers strategic advice and options.
Rediff Education has a 'Softboard' that pins up information relating to scholarships available, admission procedures and applications, and course deadlines. And to simplify the tedium of searching through the vast resources of information available on the web, Rediff's Education Directory provides an exhaustive guide to websites both Indian and International. Added to these are the Rediff Editor's recommendations of websites that offer options on studying in India as well as abroad.
Founded in 1996, rediff.com is India's favourite website with unrivalled monthly hits in excess of 90 million.
